WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT MICHAEL? YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!

Michael Schott was born and still lives on his family farm in Swansboro, North Carolina, but his story in music started in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia, where as early as 8 years old, he participated in bluegrass and old-time music jams. There, he learned his first guitar chords and developed a foundation for music. His first original song was written as a tribute to his family, and after winning his 5th grade talent show with it, he had found his passion for singing, songwriting, and live performance.

After tearing up his local open mic circuit back home and forming his first gigging band, which included his own father on drums (and still does today), he was offered the opportunity to open for Nashville veteran and former member of Rascal Flatts, Tom Yankton, in New Bern, NC. Tom was impressed with Michael's natural ability to not only sing and write, but his innate ability to connect with an audience and communicate with his band at the age of 11. Tom offered to produce what would become Michael's first Nashville recording session, and everything was uphill from there.

That first Nashville session opened the door to opportunities Michael could have only dreamed of a few years earlier. He made his national PBS debut at 12 years old, performing two of his original songs, and began working with Nashville professionals including Tom Yankton and songwriter and producer Jimmy Ritchey. At the same time, Michael continued performing wherever he could, building a reputation as a young artist who could walk onto a stage, pick up a guitar, and command the room.

His songwriting began earning recognition as well. Michael placed 3rd in the Texas State Songwriters Championship and became a Josie Music Awards nominee. His music has also found an audience online, earning placement on more than 250 Spotify playlists with audiences of 10,000 or more listeners each, while his recordings have charted in the iTunes Top 10.

Live performance has remained at the center of Michael's career. He has shared the stage with artists including Parmalee, Sawyer Brown, Switchfoot, and Chris Cagle, performed at festivals and venues throughout the Southeast, and headlined multiple shows at the Turnage Theatre. From Nashville honky-tonks to Carolina festivals and hometown stages, Michael has continued to develop his reputation as an entertainer who brings the same energy to a small room as he does to a festival stage.

Michael was named Entertainer of the Year at the Carolina Country Music Awards, as well as 3 nominations at the Josie Music Awards. adding another milestone to a career that continues to grow while staying rooted in the music that started it all.

Today, Michael Schott is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and entertainer dedicated to keeping the heartbeat of traditional country music alive. His sound is built around real instruments, real stories, and the influence of the artists who made country music what it is—George Jones, Merle Haggard, John Conlee, Gene Watson, Ray Price, Daryle Singletary, and many more. Michael's goal remains the same: to make country music that feels timeless, honest, and worth passing down.

He's an old soul in a young man's body—and he's just getting started.
